I've been a huge fan ever since I can remember. Seeing all the classic movies, getting every toy made. Collecting the cards, reading the books. Whatever ... I'm just so sick of losers here bashing TPM. (IE ... listen to me, Jake LLoyd sucked, Jar Jar sucked, the plot sucks, it's confusing, there's to much CGI, I expected better) AAAHHHHHH ... Why is it that a$$ munching fans think that they could do better? Am I alone thinking this? Please tell me that I'm not alone? I think The Phantom Menace was a great beginning to a wonderful world that we call Star Wars. It's one thing to critique certain aspects, but to say it was a bad movie ??? Maybe you should skip seeing the next two movies so you don't have to come down from your high horse.

I am with you! I have to admit though, when I first saw The Phantom Menace I really didn't like it as much as the others. I gave it some more chances, and the more I watched it, the more it became familiar like the others. I saw The Phantom Menace 11 times in the theater and the 11th was the best. I love The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar and all.
May The Force Be With You!

I could'nt agree with you more. It's a part of a story. Of course ANH wasn't as good compared to empire or jedi. You have to introduce the characters and environment before you start "real" action. TPM is merely an intro, so you really aren't a true fan if you do ########
-and jar jar did not suck. At least it wasn't lando.

TPM deserves all the bashing it gets.

Well said clearlyfaded. Its been my opinion from the start as well. Anyone who doesn't like TPM has no right to call themselves a true fan.

THX 138...do you know how to say anything positive and constructive? I have yet to read anything you've written that isn't negative or morbid.
I agree, at first I was a bit disappointed. But the more I watched it, the more I liked it. And I also agree that it was an intro. Amazingly, there are some people who haven't seen SW (I've met people who haven't, and I've been incredulous.), so it was also a good way of easing them into the SW world.

Yes! Please end all the complaining! I for one hoped that the official message boards would be filled with people who appreciate the movies. I'm finding it less and less interesting to read all these messages. If there's going to be bashing, maybe a separate board could be set up to handle that.

I don't understand how anyone can watch all the documentary footage about Episode I on the DVD and not be amazed, and respectful for the amount of creative work and effort that goes into that movie. It deserves no bashing of any kind.

I personally enjoy the star wars universe in TPM more than in the others. Probably the one factor that makes this so is the fact that we finally get to see 'real' Jedi in action. The saber fighting in episodes 4,5 and 6 was so bloody stiff... *whack* *whack* *whack*... BLAH. In Epsiode IV Obi Wan called the lightsaber "elegant". Well, it never looked elegant until The Phantom Menace in my opinion. Ewan and Ray straight up ROCKED as Obi and Maul. I'll take Ewan as Obi over Mark Hamill as Luke anyday.
Jar Jar was fine, he was fun, but he was just there TOO MUCH. Im not sure how lucas expected the audience to feel any sense of danger or drama with this bumbling mutant three-stooges character always there. TPM has a awful habit of ruining the suspense, drama or danger of the plotline - via Jar Jar, or (hate to say it) via Jake as Anakin.
Once the final battle begins, TPM is pretty dang good. I know ill watch it many more times.

I started this thread with the hope of those ans who love TPM to show their apreciation. I'm the first to admit, when I first saw it, I was also let down. But after seeing it again, (and again, and again) each time I started to forget the things that bothered me, and I just let the story unfold. Once you let yourself enjoy it, you'll see that it is great. On a personal note ... maybe I'm wierd, but TPM is and has become my favorite episode so far.

THX 138, please stop trolling. Whether you mean it or not, the sole intention of the vast majority of your posts is to make people mad. Please stop it, or it will be stopped for you. Liz

I like all star wars. TPM was good, I loved it. I thought it had a great plot too. Sure the others are better but TPM is still a very good movie.

I for one love TPM. The story is grand, and the battles are mighty keen. I mean, where else are you going to see a two on one fight that actually seems fair? I also loved Jar Jar. After watching "The Beginning" on the DVD I had even more respect for Ahmed Best, just look at how he acted and how helped ILM make Jar Jar as real as possible. Put simply I love everything about TPM, especially Natalie Portman.

I agree, TPM may not be as good as the originals, but it's made for a different generation. I still think it is good, though.

I love TPM, great movie. I only saw it twice in the theater, but I have watched it several times on VHS.
I'm disappointed in the DVD though. Lucasfilms has a kind of "bait and switch" thing going on. I returned my DVD because I felt like I was conned, it's not the same film.
