This thread is to discuss the Legacy era in both novel (Legacy fo the Force series) and comic (Star Wars Legacy series) form, as well as any other stories told in the Legacy era.

Repost from VIP thread: Speaking of LEGACY, are Dark Horse, John, and Jan working with the brains behind LOTF in any way, or are they given a mostly clean slate because of the 100 year gap? They've been given a great deal of freedom, but I would say it's far from a clean state. The comic and novel authors don't collaborate directly, but we try to keep the two parties constantly up-to-date on what the other is doing. There were definitely things that we told both of them to stay clear of because of things the other team was doing. Even with the large gap, there are some things that the comic team needed direction on such as what would the Jedi academy look like? What has happened to Coruscant? Also keep in mind that there are humongous story gaps between the two; don't expect answers to everything right away. Both series were created to be enjoyed independently of the other. Consider any direct links between the two as gravy.

Repost from VIP thread: was there any discussion in naming LOTF and the Legacy comic series Dark Horse came up with the Legacy title for their comic series first. In trying to come with a title for the novel series, something with the word "legacy" was the frontrunner among the authors who weren't even aware of the comic series. We feared that we would have to change the name of the novel series since the comic series title had already been approved . But we found the word "legacy" to be very compelling and applicable to both series, so we came up with the idea of creating a new Legacy era. The Legacy era was announced at Celebration III, but we had to refrain from talking about the comic series because Dark Horse was not yet ready to announce it.

I was so bummed leaving the theater after seeing ROTS, thinking SW was over. But Legacy has got me just as excited as the prequels. With more freedom, I think were in for a real treat with the Legacy Era. The characters from John and Jan look real good, I believe the Imperial Jedi Knights are going to be fan favorites. I think the reaction to Betrayal was great, almost everyone liked it. As great as the NJO is, I think Legacy will surpass it.
THE LEGACY ERA HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tasty Taste:
Which events are considered current? The comics of Legacy or the novels?

Well, they're both "Legacy Era" in that they are 40+ after ANH.
So, from the perspective of the Luke and Jacen generations, Betrayal is "current," whereas for the Kol and Cade generations, it'd be Legacy #0 (and soon #1) that's "current."
My thoughts on Legacy so far, after reading #0...
1. When does the story take place? The inside of the comic says 130 years after ANH, but until now we were always being told 100 years after LOTF, which would be 140 years after ANH. Which is correct?
2. How many generations are we assuming exist between, say, Ben Skywalker's generation and Kol Skywalker's generation? This is, would Ben be Kol's great, great grandfather? Great grandfather? Grandfather? Heck, even father perhaps, given long lifespans in SW?
3. I'm assuming that Chak in Legacy is the same Chak we met in the last few issues of Republic, yes? Sweeeeeeeet.
4. Just what species is Darth Krayt? The early comments were that people thought he was a Yuuzhan Vong, but the image in Legacy #0 makes me wonder if that's incorrect.
5. Uhm, why does Konrad Rus look EXACTLY like actor Henry Gibson? Is that just another photo reference style homage as was the case with characters in Union?
6. And am I the only one that finds it bizarre that even after a century, the Empire still uses basically the same look (note, I said LOOK, not exact specs) to their stormtrooper armor?
I'm extremely excited to see how Legacy goes, and I feel it might just end up ranking up there with Tales of the Jedi as a favorite era of SW storytelling. I'm just now flooded with questions (mostly nitpicky) after having read #0.

Legacy occurs 100 years after the end of the New Jedi Order series, so 130 ABY is the correct year.
Some of your other questions will definitely be answered later on, while others might not. Sit tight - the ride has only just begun.

Anything you could do the speed it up?

Can the Legacy Comics have their own thread? I've read Legacy 0, but I haven't read Betrayal, and I know I'm not the only one.
I just read Legacy 0, and I was dazzled. Simply dazzled. The artwork was gorgeous (am I wrong in assuming that the images that looked computer generated actually were computer generated?), and the storylines were intriguing. A lot of the material induced mental screams of "Oh, my, GOD!" (such as the fact that the Emperor is a FEL!, Pellaeon has had a Star-Destroyer Class named after him, there's a Skywalker other than Cade, etc). A lot of it made me really eager to learn more. Especially since so many different characters, situations, and potential subplots were set up. They could run twenty issues and not use a single storyline twice.

I was a bit upset that so much history was covered, though. I was always under the impression that the whole series would be sketchy on its backstory, allowing it to be set up by other authors in the future, but in Issue 0 alone it's been established that the Galactic Alliance falls, is absorbed by the Empire after a three-year war, the Jedi attempted to reverse-Vongform 100 planets, etc, etc. It seems like a lot more in the Legacy Era has been limited now, and that sucks.
However, it's good to see that the Jedi are still strong and numerous, unlike how we were led to believe. Luke Skywalker's Legacy stands!
The Gray Jedi are intriguing. Such an intriguing concept. I can't wait to read more about them.

All in all, I'm very, very excited for the rest of the series. Everything that has been set up is mouth-watering, and has the potential for amazing storylines. Man, I can't believe the galaxy turned its back on the Galactic Alliance! You scoundrels! But it was stated somewhere near the end of Issue #0 that the Galactic Alliance still exists, wasn't it?
I'm echoing the question of The Broox in the Speculation thread --- did Cade's master only have one hand? I guess we'll have to wait and see!!
One other qualm --- the comic stated that Darth Krayt had been on Korriban for over a hundred years. ... ... ... What about Lumiya? I sincerely doubt that Darth Krayt will be in LOTF.
