This is a thread to discuss the Insider arcticle "The Greatest Moments in the E.U.", and to nominate one's own personal favorite moments. I'm basically trying to set this up the way D'gannin set up the "Most Powerful Force User" thread. Thanks for the inspiration, man!

WARNING: This is not a flaming thread. It will never be used as such. PERIOD. When someone nominates a moment you don't care for, DO NOT ATTACK HIM. Do not even post slighting responses. JUST KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND LET PEOPLE HAVE THEIR OPINIONS.

Also, this thread will NOT be used to discuss "Worst Moments". There's already a thread for that.

If anyone violates these rules, the mods will crack down on this thread. In fact, I myself will go to J.T.S. Yes, that's right, I will tattle to the moderators about my own thread. Call me a tattle-tale all you want, but that will not stop Mr. Skywalker from locking, freezing accounts, and taking whatever other punative measures he sees as necesarry. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Now that that unpleasant business is over with, let's have some fun!

In no particular order, here are my moments:

C'BAOTH'S THRONE ("The Last Command"): As Mara and Luke enter the Mount Tantiss throne room, a chair turns atop an opulent dais. There, in sinister majesty, sits Joruus C'baoth. What follows is a melee of lightning, flying rock, and blazing lasers, by far one of the most brutal and pyrotechnic battles ever seen in the pages of a book.

"HOW MANY HANDS DO YOU SEE NOW?" ("Shatterpoint"): Tenebrous glory erupts from the pages of "Shatterpoint" as Mace Windu and Kar Vastor duel through the midnight jungles of Haruun Kal. In sweeping sequences of blood rage and Vaapad, this fight leaves its indelible mark upon the mind.

THE TRAIN ("Labyrinthe of Evil"): As a train blazes through the belly of urban Coruscant, two Jedi and a cyborg general duel on its roof like gunslingers in the old West. This is by far the most suspenseful -- I dare say Ludlum-esque -- fight scenes in E.U. history.

TWO UPON ITHOR ("Ruin"): In the green jungles of Ithor, robed in ceremonial raiment, Corran Horn and Shedao Shai clash like titans. In the end, only the most brilliant of artifices saves Corran.

TAKE YOUR PICK ("Darksaber"): Never has a book so alive with the cinematic spirit of Star Wars been written. Kevin J. Anderson brings new magic to the glow of a lightsaber, as though readers had never before experienced Star Wars' most basic elements. A broad palette of beautiful worlds serves as a backdrop for a well-rounded, emotionally wrought story.

"I LOVE YOU, TAHIRI" ("Conquest"): In a single, heart-wrenching moment, all pretense to the relationship between Anakin and Tahiri is ripped away. Surrounded by Yuuzhan Vong, attacked by the girl whose soul he knows better than his own, Anakin Solo falls to his knees and screams, admitting to himself as well as Tahiri, "I LOVE YOU, TAHIRI VEILA!"

DEATH MARCH ("Jedi vs. Sith"): Magnificent in his death, the ancient Lord Hoth strides boldly into the cave where the Sith Lord Kaan sits upon a golden throne. Hoth knows he will die, but walks still. He defies the demented Kaan and, in the end, demonstrates the warrior's greatest sacrifice: death.

LAH'S ULTIMATUM ("Balance Point"): The flawlessly poised Mss. Tyers delivers the bleakest moment of the New Jedi Order: over a fiery pit of disintigrating droids, Tsavong Lah calls for the heads of all Jedi. Then, in a single breathtaking ending sentence, he throws Leia's lightsaber into the pit.

EMPIRE FALLS ("Star by Star"): The sweeping hordes of the Yuuzhan Vong invade Coruscant like a black tide. Warped, organic fighters swoop between soot-blackened chrome buildings, and plasma balls fall like comets. Urban paradise becomes urban dystopia, and the death sentence of the New Republic is signed.

FIRST KISS ("Rebirth"): In a quiet, sweet, sensitive moment, Anakin and Tahiri come closer than ever before (I reread this thing, like, forty times!).

TOSI-KARU ("Vector Prime"): Mighty Chewbacca roars in the face of a descending moon. Against fire and wind and the loss of all, he raises his arms, the arms of a warrior, for the last time.

"THERE IS A WORLD!" ("The Final Prophecy"): Illuminated by pale, cobalt lumien reeds, looking up upon the stars that have banished them, Shamed Ones in a sky-lit pit listen to the words of Yu'Shaa the Prophet. Questing for words, the Prophet points up and speaks of a promised land for the heretics of the Jedi Sect.

FORCE HIBERNATION: (Vision of the Future) The scene where Mara has to go into a Force trance and Luke needs to revive her. I loved this scene in that these opposites finally realized they were made for each other.

Great thread by the way GAS

Oh, wait. G.A.S. "Grand Admiral Sean". Ooops. :8}

Oh, in that case, thanks very much! I thought the Insider article was just spectacular, and I wanted to throw in my two cents.

I'll bet that "GANNER: HERO AT THE GATES" will get about a billion votes -- and rightfully so. It is totally one of the best man-verses-masses scenes in the entire New Jedi Order!

The thing that bothered me about the Insider article; NO Anakin Solo's death?!?

I mean come on, the ONLY child of the big three to die! and not even an honorable mention?

Well Anakin Solo, I'll give you one!

Two vote for Anakin's death xx
