It seems that $10 isnt that high of a price for a book. I think thats the equivalent of about £7 or £8 over here in the UK. When you consider that the first novel I bought (Children of the Jedi-I think) was priced at £4.99 and the most recent (The Force Unleashed) was £7.99, an increase of £3 in about 13 years isnt so bad.
My Clone Wars novels from 2002-2005 were (at work so going off memory here) $5.99. They're $7.99 now, an increase of two dollars in four years.
I don't care if the price differential is only a dollar, if I find the format that is causing the price increase has no added value to me, I won't pay it.
That's really the key issue for me. I understand economics and inflation, but a two dollar increase to justify a larger book that adds zero value irks me.

I really hope that this new size for paperbacks doesn't end up effecting the SW paperbacks, I bought one of the larger sized paperbacks, I forget the name of the book, and I don't care for the extra 3/4 inch height.

Add to this that Sue too seemed surprised by it- makes you wonder- why would these decisions remain in the hands of outsiders? I'm sure it's all about the system, but if a decision and more like this made by Random House or whoever drives fans away that's bad for business- and it seems to be a continuing trend. So as what point does LFL say - can you please stop while we have A LOT of people reading our SW books?

For me the money they make in the format change won't even out with those who say "nope not going to pay that" Sounds to me like a loss in the long run.

I would like that, but preferably if Hambly came back with her.

It sounds like Sue wasn't a part of this decision and learned about this just like the rest of us. So perhaps she isn't the one that has to "explain" things.
This is true. I'm still looking into this, so hopefully I'll have more information to share soon.

Got any good news, Sue? (Or at least something to buck the trend of ongoing expression of already noted opinions.)

YES! Great news! I'm going on vacation again!! The week of October 26-30th. Rented a little house in the woods along the coast north of here (Sea Ranch). I'm going to CHILL OUT. No internet, no phone, no TV..... just me, my dog, and the hot tub.
Other good news -- Aaron just submitted another couple of chapters of BACKLASH. Because of his medical situation, the manuscript is being delivered in chunks.
We've settled on a concept for the ALLIES cover. Two characters --

Sue, thank you SO MUCH for telling us who will be on Allies (I didn't post the name for people that are avoiding spoilers)!!!! I hope you have a great vacation!!
I have one question- When do you think the summary for Backlash (the one that would be on the inside cover jacket) is gonna be released?

As soon as we can post the back cover. Maybe next week... maybe the week after. Soon, though.
