I would think that the fact that you get thanked (rightfully so) at the beginning of EVERY novel would be enough for him.
Speaking of which, I was always curious on this . . .
The first time I ever saw my name in official SW print was a "thanks" in the New Essential Guide to Characters, and I about flipped. I still get a huge thrill each time I see one of my tiny little contributions pop up, like when Ord Sedra showed up in the Complete Encyclopedia.
People like Sue, though, do this kind of thing every day, so the question is: Does that ever get old? Does it reach a point where the whole thing starts to really feel like "just a job?" (Everyone has bad days, but I mean for long stretches at a time.)

There won't be a paperback release --- not on this one.
Oh...wow. O_O
I mean no disrespect, but why? Every novel to date has had a paperback version. Why must this one be different? And won't that mess up the uniformity between it and the other TCW books (Wild Space, No Prisoners, etc.) that are sequels to it?
Are there any other SW novels that will be hardback only, and never in paperback?
I ask this as one who is an avid collector of paperback books in the SW series (I know there are others as well), so this does come as very disappointing news to me.

That question was asked, answered, and discussed a short time ago in this very thread. Here's a link to the page of this thread where it first appeared and the discussion that followed:

Thanks for the link, Nathan--I've been away from this forum for quite a while. And my apologies for necromancing an old tired subject that's been beaten already. Some of those posts answered my queries, so thank you. (And yes, I will be importing from the UK on this one!)
One last question about the decision to keep TCW novel in hardback only. Sue, I know you had nothing to do with it and it's out of your hands, but did you hear the rationale of the powers-that-be as to why this exception was made for this book? Thanks!
(And I hope I'm not offending with my questioning. )

The Clone Wars novelization was originally slated as a trade paperback (as the other Clone Wars novels) and Del Rey decided to change it to a hardcover somewhere along the way. I'm not certain why they decided not to follow it with a paperback, unless the sales figures were low and, with the economy at this low point, felt that a paperback wouldn't pay for itself. But I'm just guessing....

I've been on board here for a bit over 18 years. Hard to believe, actually. So, yes, some days it does just feel like a job. I work in an office (with a nice view of a part of SF Bay) with a computer, sitting in an office chair, with a phone nearby... bookshelves, etc, so it feels like an office. Yeah, I have action figures on the window sill and two paintings of Luke (by Russel Walks) on the wall, and a Chewie standee keeps me company, but the deadlines and work-related stresses are here just like everywhere else. Sometimes I Google my name and think "Holy Cow, (well, not "cow" exactly), is that me?" 'Cuz I'm just an old hippie reading Star Wars comics and books -- and if I think about it too much it'll freak me out. Editors are the folks backstage, and that suits me well. So when I see my name in print in the books and comics, it's very cool, even today, but I don't get light-headed about it, and I don't get riled up if I don't get a thanks -- it's more that I feel warm and fuzzy if an author acknowledges that I helped in some way. Plus, there's a bunch of administrative-type things that go with my responsibilities that aren't that much fun.... We're all just folks doing our thing, ya know?
TMI???

Sue, I don't know whether you may or may not be able to answer this but I was wondering if there were any plans to re-release some of the Bantam books which are now out of print. Thanks.

No, not that I've heard.
I only ask because I was in this new bookshop the other day and there were a few copies of the Thrawn Trillogy. I guess they could have inherited them from an older store.
Thanks for answering my question.

Are you in the UK? I noticed last week that my Waterstones had American editions, where it appears to be still in print (I assume - its available new on Amazon over there whereas it isn't here).

Yes, I guess it must have been American editions. I also noticed on Amazon (UK) that there was a date for a release of Dark Force Rising in June.
