back from vacation, while I was away I picked up some new books 2 of which being most notable.

Courtship of Princess Leia - oh my gosh!! that was a good book, storyteling at its finest. I cant stop laughing especially when Han told you know who to kiss his w**kiee classic. Han Solo will always be a much needed figure in SW galaxy

Rule of two heh what can I say- chilling, astonishing Evil and I alot of guilty pleasure reading it-
some ques about rule of two- so we learned how formidable the sith were in 1000bby
Why did it take 1000 years for them to reappear and destroy the jedi?- after the wise and powerfull Darth Bane and the treacherous Zannah exploits in rule of two the sith had to have had a few major setbacks between 1000-30bby (it would seem with minor details) will more Rise of the Empire era sith books explore those? - say like the Darth Plagueis novel that was scheduled- that is if the shredanoga hasnt devoured it

by the way the Artist depiction of Bane and Zannahs lightsabers on the cover of Rule of two is in fact Incorrect from what was described in the book- and We all know that continuity is important in SW galaxy - hopefully artists will pay more attention to such details in the future

UGH... As an artist, I can tell you that little things like that sometimes get sacrificed in favor of what's easier to drawn so we can focus on the big picture. Now if the cover was JUST the lightsaber and it was still the wrong one, THEN you can complain about the artist not doing their research.

UGH... As an artist

maybe you need a new profession if you cant pay attention to detail

DioscurII, personal insults are unnecessary.

It's well known that in the publishing industry, most artists don't get more than a basic outline (if even that) of the book that they're creating the cover for. It pays to think of covers, like the Pirate's code, as "Just suggestions, really." It's basically there to sell the book, not act as THE ultimate reference.

We've had this conversation in this thread a billion times before. We don't need to have it again. The point has been made, let's move on.

I for one am wondering about the TFU release dates, because I checked the Random House site just a week or two ago and it was still saying March 18th.... (Looks like The Art and Making of has also been pushed back...)

ETA: I started poking around (for blogging purposes) and Random House is also now listing the The Essential Atlas for September 23.

Keep reading the comics, though.
Does that mean we can look forward to some Post-Legacy Comics NOVELS? SWEET! The Legacy comics are the first SW comics I"ve bought routinely since the original Marvel run, and I love 'em! I'd buy any novels featuring Cade & company.

Look sporky, dont bring my name up in some melodramatic fashion because I responded to what can be deemed as cynicism directed to a post that I wrote about continuity- if you believe me saying that if an artist cant pay attention to detail, then they maybe better off in another profession is an insult- then maybe you dont quite understand what a insult truly is. Further more I hav better things to do than go back and forth on rigid opinions as such.
this is NOT the thread for that, and shame on you for even getting involved with an inaccurate inclination of your own- especially when there are other posts much needed of such a remark

This isn't the thread to argue over cover art. It's a thread to talk to VIPs. The point about inaccurate cover art was made; The VIPs know it bothers people. Thus, time for the argument to move on, perhaps to another thread, and this thread to move on to another topic.

Meanwhile DioscurII , you can cool down and then see me in Feedback when you're feeling a bit more respectful. You shouldn't have any problems finding it.

thanks spork!

and yeah, I don't know what the heck is going on with the Force Unleashed.

The "Making of" and Prima Guide are both still listed for March/April, but the novel and audio book have been sent to June 24. Which kinda stinks, as that gives us 4 hardcovers and one paperback to buy over the summer months (if you count the Indy 4 novel)

Courtship of Princess Leia - oh my gosh!!

So strange that this book has become so popular lately. Let's just hope the Rancors don't go on strike for not getting any royalty checks.

I have to agree, book covers and comic covers really don't fall under the category of strict canon. It's just a representation of the story. Now, artwork on a comic book page portraying an actual story is different. But, the a cover needn't be -- and often is not -- an official depiction of a scene. Personally, I'm happy to see a cover that is not just a bunch of floating heads based on the same dozen reference photos.

And yes, unless an artist is instructed specifically on how something should look by an editor, such details are not going to be there. If the editor said "Please make those 'sabers match the description in this excerpt from the book," that's what we'd get.

Well, another update to the DR catalog and no sign of the second Coruscant Nights book... does that mean it's been moved to October, or has it been cancelled?

It's still there. There's just no cover or title yet.

And I see there's a new Indy book that ties into this fall's video game... could you be testing the waters for a new line of Indy EU books?

Cannot predict now.

edit: whoawhoawhoa... and The Force Unleashed got pushed back until June?!? say it ain't so!

Signs point to yes.

LOE/ROTS/DL will come out. It's listed on Delrey so I thought I would confirm with you.

Yes, that's still planned. My calendar shows it coming out in August 2008.

Hi, Sue.

I'll say it again.I know that Hasbro has made a Darth Revan action figure. Is there any hope that we may see LOTF EU characters as action figures? I too would like to see a Darth Caedus action figure-he's one of my favorite Sith! That would be so cool! And it would be great if there were comic book adaptions for LOTF.
