And even if it's true, the date could be wrong...
Hmm. Did Bane ever get on any of the bestseller lists? If it sold really well, I suppose there could be an addition to the contract ala the RC books... But I'd say a wrong date is more likely. Assuming, of course, that it's not just a blip or error.

Did Bane ever get on any of the bestseller lists? I don't have the exact figures, but every single Star Wars book since Heir to the Empire has been a bestseller. Of course, it's still difficult to crack the top ten. That said, I'm not sure how well P.o.D. did, but the promotional campaign seemed fairly extensive, which is usually a good sign (bestseller lists are actually based on the number of books ordered rather than the number bought. Hence, the success of Mission Earth...).

Regardless, if there is going to be a sequel, I'd far prefer if someone else wrote it.
Or, at the very least, the editors really need to take a firmer line on continuity.

Why? Because of the Vapaad mix up? That was corrected for the paperback.

That's what I meant. I don't remember hearing if it did, but that doesn't mean much...

That wasn't a problem. There were far more egregious errors caused by Karpshyn's wholesale jettisonning of previously established events.
For the record, I don't even care about the Vaapad mix-up. It's not important. The other stuff was.

I don't mean to sound rude, what was incorrect? The corrtoris ore bits? It's been a while since I read it, but I don't recall it being filled with errors, well, the horse people just being people and no flying sail ships aside. Please point me in the right direction here, I feel out of the loop

Suddenly and without warning, a listing popped up on the Random House catalog, for a Darth Bane sequel to be released in December of this year. HERE
Is it really happening or a mistake on Random House's part? Was this some super-fast and super-stealthy effort to surprise the hell out of us?
It surprised the hell out of me too.
Shelly called me late last week to propose an additional hardcover this fall. THIS fall. Yep. Del Rey figured the market could bear one more, and since the Darth Bane novel was a hit, a follow-up, written by Drew, seemed the best idea. So the untitled Feb. 09 hardcover (previously the "Plagueis" novel) has been moved up, and Drew agreed to continue Bane's story. So we're off and running.
The release date is slated for December 26th, 2007.

5 months doesn't seem unrealistic to me, though I don't know anything about the actual physical production of books. I know an author or two who can knock a book out in 5 weeks or so. Doesn't make it a worse book (or better), just a different style for authors.
5 months is almost unrealistic.

It was on the New York Times bestseller list for 2 weeks.

This is true, especially with the hardcover list. SACRIFICE came out at #8! (and #13 its second week)
In the publishing world, we count the top 15 as "making the list." Darth Bane debuted at #11, then dropped to #14.

That's great news, Sue! Will we have an announcement at starwars.com soon, or when the cover is ready?

Didn't James Luceno crank out Dark Lord: the rise of Darth Vader in a few months. I seem to remember him saying that in an interview from insider.

Sue - So glad the Bane saga continues! The first book was awesome. Looking forward to reading about the trials of Zannah SACRIFICE SPOILER ALERT Don't you feel bad for poor old Luke after the events of Sacrifice... if you think about it, he's lived a pretty awful life - war, death, war, death... This is the saga's overall hero and it would have been nice for him to have his own happily ever, which he's certainly earned. Here's hoping Mara can at least visit her love from time to time in force aparations. Heck, Qui-Gonn's body didn't vanish yet he was able to "commune" with Yoda. Please do this for our Luke! Had a blast at CIV. Thanks for everything, always!

I am thrilled to hear about Bane's story continuing. I hope we finally get some development of Zannah! Thanks so much for confirming this little piece of news!
