I hate the idea of "Chosen Ones" in movies. The Chosen One is a sentient being, foretold by the gods/ancient people who were foretold by their gods, who will bring order to everything. Anakin and Neo are chosen ones, and I didn't like that. After Neo found out he was the Chosen One, he got all "Oo, Ah. Dude, I'm the Chosen One." and he became all badass afterwards. But then he talked to big machine heads so that made it even more ridiculous. Anakin, I'm not sure anyone ever told him he was the Chosen One, so nothing there. But the idea of a "Chosen One" is stupid.

I have no problem with "the chosen one". Perhaps it is used a lot in movies, but so what? Many stories seem to be about places that are in some trouble or form of decay. They have little hope until a prophet comes and fortells that their suffering will someday end. Perhaps if they changed the title "The Chosen One" you would better like it? What should Neo have been called?

It is a cheesey title, but it is important in many stories.
A basic movie plot usually is about some seemingly insignificant guy that was "chosen" to save the world.
