info from Yahoo TV

The ratings for the second episode had 17.2 million viewers. The series retained a 91% viewership from the first episode. Highly impressive.

Looks like LOST will stay around for a while. Unless the costly on-locating filming kills them. I heard that the pilot (first two episodes) cost a total of $12 million.

Hey, What were those creatures? are they dinosaurs or aliens or what?

We don't know yet......

Anyways, I liked this episode, though it was a touch weaker than last weeks. Not enough suspense and action in my opinion. It did establish the characters a bit more and I'm sure set up a lot of things for future stories. I like the idea that someone mentioned about the survivors splitting into two groups. It could make things more interesting.......

I like this show, but I find the characters to be somewhat cliche. You have the funny fat guy, the spunky girl, the #####y, spoiled good looking girl, the boy scout doctor, the chauvinistic Korean guy with the submissive Asian wife.... I mean come on, were they using the screen writers stereotype book or what?? I didn't think the 2nd episode was as good as the original episode. I'm hoping that it doesn't degrade into a non-Reality version of Survivor.

I think the characters I would create would try to be more realistic. I guess the problem with that though is that the characters would all be quite similar since most people would act about the same, and may end up being too boring. How many of us would pull out our bathing suits and start sun bathing after we crashed in a plane? Not really realistic, but I guess it gives the producers a chance to show some skin and boost the ratings. Being a TV show I guess you have to tolerate a certain amount of stereotyping, but I find it too much sometimes. You're an Asian guy MLB, did you find the chauvinistic Asian guy a bit too much?

well, I was born in California...so I'm not sure how it works in Korea.

but I am Chinese and the chauvinistic attitude does kind of happen in China.

as for me personally, I don't really get upset over stereotypes. If someone says one about my culture, I may be angry for about 10 seconds. I guess it's because I end up resorting to stereotypes at times (which I can't say I'm proud of).

perhaps turn it into a Lord of the flies people killing other people thing. But nope, instead they make it sci-fi. Not that I have anything agenst sci-fi mind you(I'm on a starwars forum). But they didnt sell it as a sci fi. I personally am not interested in a show about a huge invisible whatever-the-heck.

except for the fact that the Lord of the Flies was somewhat based on a huge invisible whatever-the-heck being on the island as well.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here but there is NO ONE counting iterations. That's a computer generated voice, that's the only reasonable explanation. It is programmed to add one everytime the message is played, sort of how Winamp counts every time you play a song, so if you check your media list you can see what you've listened to and how many times you've listened to it.

So the question is: why did the French girl set things up to send the help message AND count each time the message is sent? Assuming she knew she had a permanent power source for her broadcast, what could she gain by having a counter? Maybe the counter isn't a counter as such, maybe it is/was being used to coordinate something else? A kind of 'let's synchronize our watches' type of thing. And why did she leave such an enigmatic message to start with?

I think it was because they didn't expect 16 yrs to go by with no response. The message makes sense if someone responds right away.

I'll just say the "alternate universe" theory is a possibility ... but I think it isn't very likely ... just IMHO, of course ... :D

Oh ... what about THIS bit of speculation....:

The "polar bear" wasn't a polar bear at all ... it was Vincent the dog - horribly mutated in some way ...

Let's say I happen to be sailing by soon after that message starts playing AND I happen to speak French. Doesn't it make sense to give me, the wouldbe rescuer, some idea of the danger? Instead, she just says that something killed them all, but gives no clue as to the nature of the danger facing anyone attempting a rescue. That's what I meant by leaving an enigmatic message- a message that lacks basic, necessary info if she really thought someone might hear it.

UNLESS she expected that message to be received by specific person/s. Such as someone who already knew what was going on, what the danger was....hmmm....

Well, another great episode for this show! Wow! I could have gone for a little more action but, it was still good. I wish the 'creatures' plotline would get going a bit more but I am sure they are saving it for later in the season. What I really want to know after this episode is who that Locke guy really is. He seemed nice, just a little strange, for the first two episodes and the majority of this one, until the end there. He was just creepy. And they played evil music with him too. I also liked the Kate flashbacks. If anyone is going to be a breakout star of this series, it is going to be Evangeline Lily. She is an amazing actress. I sort of with they had cast her for the role of Sydneys sister on Alias but, oh well. She is perfect for this show.

Well, I don't know how excited I can get over a filler-episode that appears three episodes into the rookie season.

damn ABC and their fake previews..trying to make it seem like this episode will be super tense.

but I still love this show..haha
