***spoilers***

One thing this show DOESN'T have, characters that do anything that makes sense. Why didn't they tell the others about what happened to the pilot and the rest of the info about being off course? They said 'no survivors' if I remember correctly.

After being attacked by a polar bear(!!!), why did they allow the dumb(but oh so hot) tough chick to dismantle their only weapon? Um, maybe, just MAYBE, there might be another HUGE @SS beast out there? You think?

The 'message for 16 years' bit has me intrigued enough to keep watching for now.

Dom's character Charlie has a heroin problem. Read it in an interview. I figured that really isn't a spoiler since it's obvious he has a drug problem after what we saw in tonight's episode. I have no idea what the monster is. I'm leaning towards a dinosaur but that would just be to Jurassic park. I don't know what it is. The other issue to consider... There have been other people stranded on this Island. Now the question is why on this Island have more than one group of people been stranded. Very weird. If this show follows like alias we might not know for like ever! :)

so I went to the shooting range this past summer for the first time...and when the hot chick asked how to dismantle a gun, I was like: "Hey, I know how to do it"

hahahaha

I thought that backgammon thing was deep (was it suppose to be?)

Umm... maybe it would start mass chaos. They didn't want to freak everyone out. They wanted to get the transceiver working first I guess. My bet is that they tell more people later. They obviously told the group that went up the mountain about it because they were talking about it with them in tonights episode.

The girl dismantled the gun for one of two reasons: 1 it's best not to give nicotine starved people weapons. Also Have you ever read the lord of the flies? Bad things start to happened when people are stranded. Power struggles ensue. Best for no one to have a gun.

2 She new the gun was from the Marshall guarding her on the plane. If he was to survive he would have power over her again. Or something like that. There is actually a third option: options 1 and 2 combined. She was thinking of both scenarios.
My guess is that Kate is actually innocent. She doesn't seem bad, although as an Alias fan I should know that appearances can be deceiving. Especially in a Abrams show. :D

The backgammon thing- I think the 'there are two sides' part is important. The 'light and dark' part might be a reference to the polar(light) bear and maybe there is a black(dark) bear on the island.

There is something just not right with that man. Did you see the way he looked at kate in episode one? When he was sitting in the rain. He hasn't helped with anything much, he's an odd duck. The line about light and dark... me thinks there will be a major division on the Island. Makes sense every stranded on a deserted Island story usually has conflicting parties. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. There is a ton of room for character development. It should be good. :D

remember she put the oxygen mask on the Marshal? So I guess she is not a hardcore criminal. I bet she is involved with fraud or something to that extent. I guess she doesn't like guns.

If there is one thing about JJ abrams, he gives little hints about major future events in small, seemingly ,unimportant lines. Also in small doses. He builds and builds the plot, the mystery, the tension and then releases it in one or two amazing episodes. His shows watch like movies but with long... long intermissions. Things from the first episode will tie in with something in season 2. He's brilliant.

But in the preview for next weeks episode the Marshall said She's dangerous. So the crime she is accused of isn't just for fraud. Also the hand cuffs while in the air???? I don't think she's Guilty but with Abrams you never know.

I understand why the girl might want to dismantle the gun, my point was that I don't understand why anyone listens to her or otherwise obeys her. If I was there, I'd take that gun from her and rearm it,. C''mon, we just saw a frickin' polar bear on a tropical island, freaky things are happening, we need weapons.

Not telling people cause it might panic them, uh it might be more important that everyone knows the real situation ASAP so that we could start preparing for a long stay on the island. Instead, people are still acting like they're gonna be rescued any minute now.

Yeah, I caught that the hikers knew about the pilot, but that only points to more bad writing. Because do they know about being off course too? If not, why not?

If Doc lies to me, then tells me later "for your own best interest I lied to you earlier, here's our REAL situation. I have decided you are ready to know the truth now."- I will kill him in his sleep for that later on. I can't believe anyone would buy that they have the option to play with people's lives like that. It's just poor writing, that's all. I don't buy into that 'we can't tell them now for their own good' idea. Since when are they superior to the others? It just feels fake to me.

true but they thought they could still get the transceiver to work. Now that they know it's not going to work they will let people know. Mind you The second episode is really part of the pilot. So not more than a day and half have gone by or the dude with the shrapnel would be dead by now.
Kate was pointing the gun at the people. I'm not going to try to take a loaded gun away from someone. Not to mention I would rather we not have any guns with a group of people that size. I know it would be nice for protection but if you can't trust those around you? Those are my rationalizations for it at least! :)

since it's a tv show and he's the natural leader in the show! :p He saved several lives, he's a doctor, he's seemingly unafraid. like I said there will be a split. So some people might be mad at him for that. That could be one of the causes of the split. We don't know enough at the moment. Not to mention this is hollywood, I've learned to swallow a lot as far as believability goes. I mean were on a star wars message board. Star wars isn't entirely believable is it? I guess I find it interesting so the plot holes and flakiness doesn't really bother me. :D
