Well, I think the dad (Michael) and the Korean woman (Sun) have some strange kind of relationship forming. In each episode so far they have had little moments together. Also, maybe Michael has crush on her (walked in on her changing). I'm just saying that this isn't the first time they have interacted. Most of the other people he has talked to so far were either going on the hunt or busy with other things. I think he feels he can trust Sun so, he asked her. Just because she can't speak English doesn't mean she can't watch over a kid.

I'm thinking it is pretty obvious that the writers are foreshadowing some kind of romantic relationship between those two. Maybe Sun does it just to aggravate her husband, but the confrontation between the Korean husband and Michael is going to be nasty.

The idea that Michael and Sun will build a relationship later is a good one, that could lead to alot of interesting storylines. But in the here and now of their situation, he request made no sense. If anything, I think his next interaction with her should have been an apology for peeping at her when she bathed, remember she had no way of knowing he was being chased at that point because the creature never followed him that far. A scene of him trying to say he's sorry for doing that would have been consistent with the 'building a relationship' storyline, however it wouldn't have been 'funny'. Watching Michael pantomime that babysitting request was obviously supposed to be funny.

As to who else could've watched his kid:

There was 48 survivors, minus one dead= 47. Minus 3 going hunting= 44. Minus Iraqi guy working on radios=43, minus Racist guy=42, minus non English speakers=40, minus busy Doc=39. Even allowing that half of the rest are 'busy' enough to not watch over a kid so his dad can go hunt for food that EVERYONE needs, that leaves almost 20 people. So he had to pick HER why? I know that pregnant girl is always doing too much to watch the kid, right?

Well at that time Claire was pretty much in charge of the memorial service......

I understand where you are coming from but, I really don't think it is that big of a deal. Michael felt he could trust Sun.........so he picked her.

Such a great show. I looks like it may have good enough ratings to survive one season. The show is gripping, creates so much questions.

I'm guessing Mike picked her because that's who he has had the most interaction with.

I seem to do that at times. For example, I have two group projects in two different classes this semester. In one class, I joined a group of people who sit next to me. Sure, I could have picked other classmates, but why not just pick people who I already interact with?

For the class project, I partnered with another person who I have two classes with. I never knew him beforehand. However, since I already have two classes with him, I might as well do the project with him.

So the overall point here is the idea of who we have INTERACTED with.

The guy with the knives is cool. I think that was pretty neat how they showed him looking at his feet, and then showing a flashback of him in a wheelchair, and then being able to walk after the plane crash. I think the monster was some sort of demon that possessed him.

Actually, Lost is doing more than good enough. It is one of ABC's best shows and has won it's time slot every time it has been on so far. I don't think it will be going away any time soon.

it may have good ratings, but the show is really expensive (due to on-location shoots).

the two part pilot cost a total of $12 M

whoa!

The last episode about the old guy was awesome! I felt really bad for him, and I really knew how he felt when he said "Don't tell me what I can't do!". The next episode ought to be pretty cool, the doc's losing his mind! There are two things on this show that will take some time before we find out: What Kate did,and what the hell the beast is. What's the deal with the polar bear though? They seem to have completely forgotten about that.

I don't think it's just because of on-location shooting. After all, Xenia and Hercules were filmed in New Zealand (I think), and they lasted a while.

The pilot was so expensive because of the special effects, like the plane falling apart. The last two episodes didn't have as much of that, so I don't think they probably cost as much.

And personally, Michael asking Sun made sense to me. While there were plenty of other people to ask, they weren't people he necessarily knew. Plus, he does seem to have gotten a good feeling about her.
