Hi Tasty. I was wondering how much information was in the Holocron regarding that infamous live-action extravaganza on ice "for kids 3 to 93", The Ewoks and the Magic Sunberries. Is there any info on the story at all (apparently from a script by Anne Snyder)?

What is the canon status of the Death Star breakout as seen in Battlefront II? Did a Jedi padawan and the 501st really participate in it? The reason I'm asking is that the Death Star novel seems to imply that it was a normal breakout and the Jedi padawan and the 501st participation in the battle is an exaggerated rumour which is floating about the battle station

i have 3 questions:
1) how come the clone wars movie is not being considered part of the film only continuity?

2) lucas was saying something about three pillars of star wars, one of which was the fans' world. does he mean continuities? what does he mean by that?

3) i've read some articles that say the clone wars and the live action series are going to be considered official star wars canon, along with the movies. official star wars canon? is that true? maybe all i need is an elaboration on this.

1) Because it isn't a true SW movie. It's not an Episode.
2) Because the fans are always there to support SW and if it didn't have so many fans it would have dried out years ago.
3) Of course the CW series will be canon. It would be a extreme waste of time to create an Infinities series.

Not made by Lucas, even though he is involved. It isn't "his" project. Making it less refined SW.

2) lucas was saying something about three pillars of star wars, one of which was the fans' world. does he mean continuities?

Not knowing the details around the comment you refer to, I can only assume he meant each individual fan's expansion on SW in their own minds and fanwork. Lucas SW, the EU and Fanon being the three pillars.

Most things novadays are official SW canon. But there are different levels of it, each more reliable, or serving a certain purpose, than another. The new series will be pretty high up in this hierarchy, but not so high as the moves themselves.

Tasty,
why was the Reprisal used as Vader's flagship in the Empire comic series and not the Executor?
Thank you!

Lucas SW, the EU and Fanon being the three pillars.

That appears to be correct. The "three pillars" thing looks to be an expansion of the old "two universe" / "parallel universe" phrasing to acknowledge all the fan materials, while also making the same point on continuity.

Here's a collection of the recent quotes:

http://www.canonwars.com/weblog/2008/03/bounty-showest-2008-reports.html

And here's more explanation from George on the three pillars:

"The Star Wars universe has expanded far beyond the movies. How much leeway do the game makers and novel writers have?

They have their own kind of world. There's three pillars of Star Wars. I'll probably get in trouble for this but it's OK! There's three pillars: the father, the son and the holy ghost. I'm the father, Howard Roffman [president of Lucas Licensing] is the son and the holy ghost is the fans, this kind of ethereal world of people coming up with all kinds of different ideas and histories."

... "Now these three different pillars don't always match, but the movies and TV shows are all under my control and they are consistent within themselves. Howard tries to be consistent but sometimes he goes off on tangents and it's hard to hold him back. He once said to me that there are two Star Trek universes: there's the TV show and then there's all the spin-offs. He said that these were completely different and didn't have anything to do with each other. So I said, "OK, go ahead." In the early days I told them that they couldn't do anything about how Darth Vader was born, for obvious reasons, but otherwise I pretty much let them do whatever they wanted. They created this whole amazing universe that goes on for millions of years!"

The clarify this point just a little bit further, The Clone Wars will not be considered Expanded Universe. They'll be ranked up there with The Movies.

Holy cow! So, could you clarify even further?

Is The Clone Wars considered G-canon, or does this mean that T-canon in its entirety is not supposed to be considered part of the EU pillar, but part of the Lucas pillar?

I realize I'm probably being unfair in asking this so long before the products in question are released, but I suppose it can't hurt.

1.) Do you have any confirmation on exactly when The Clone Wars theatrical film will take place. It's obviously after Dreadnaughts of Rendili (Anakin has the scar) and before Labyrinth of Evil, but beyond that, can you specify anything?

2.) Is there word concerning what year the Millennium Falcon novel will take place?

Totally understandable if you haven't gotten the memo, yet, but just thought I'd ask.

I realize that continuity is going to be shifted and shuffled around in favor of the new Clone Wars movie/series--but does this mean a total "painting over" of the CW stories already in existence? In other words, is this a Clone Wars "reboot" (which I believe would be categorically bad and detrimental to the integrity of Star Wars, by the way) or just a "This is George's vision and the rest will be worked to fit accordingly."?

There's already quite the thread about this over at TF.N.

Yeah, it'd be really helpful to quell fan concerns over the new information in recent "secret updates" to the Databank regarding Clone Wars 3D characters (most particularly the "made a Jedi Knight at the start of the war" comment which a lot of people [who are blowing things out of proportion, IMO] are taking to mean there'll be some kind of timeline condensing, source placement rearranging or source nullifying (or some mixture of the three) if you could perhaps let us in on what the official plan is for continuity here regarding the new show, or even when it;s set (easily after Obession, or more difficult throughout the entire war).

I just think some clarification (or, if you aren't permitted to tell us just yet, if you can give us an idea as to when you can) would help give us a better idea of how to process this new information, because at the moment, it feels like we don't have the same familiar structure we've had of the EU in which to ascertain a context to understand this in.

Everyone anticipated a huge reworking of continuity with the release of the Prequels, but thanks to some inventive retcons, the Expanded Universe remains largely intact. If Death Star can explain all of the continuity errors ever associated with the construction of the Death Star in one chapter, I'm sure the Expanded Universe can survive this reshuffling. With the television tie-in novels and comics, it might even become more mainstream within the fandom (yeah, I wish). If anything, the discrepancies between E.U. sources are less reconcilable than the discrepancies between the E.U. and the movies.
