Valin: Ok, I see what you're saying. To fans' credit, I haven't seen anyone ranting against Pablo or Leland (though I have seen some express the wish that Leland be more forceful instead of obsequious). Nor have I seen anyone blame Filoni or Gilroy. (In fact we're hoping Filoni saves the day as he did with Grievous' near-ruined back-story).

Malachi108: I'm not sure why you're addressing me on this. If you've read my posts, you'll see you're preaching to the long-converted.

As far as most of us are aware, the issue isn't Fett's back-history that's being eradicated, it's the planet Mandalore's history and geography. Do you have updated information, however?

I think a lot of you are really, really overestimating the role that guys like Leland and Pablo play in this situation (no offense).
None taken. My roll is to provide reference when requested, advise at certain opportunities, and work with our licensees to create backstories to what they don't give backstories to in the show. My involvement in the creation of the series does not go beyond that.

It's hard for fans to stay silent- but we still have no major word about any of this. It's hard to be patient but that's what we need.
As far as continuity is concerned, my advise is to wait and see what actually happens in the Season 2 episodes before jumping to any conclusions about what continuity, if any, has been altered.

Thank you for your replies Leland. I understand that you probably are contracted so you can't say much about this until after its aired, but given your responses, I'm glad to see that you and others at LFL have taken notice of the reaction. I hope you can resolve the issue without significant re-writing of nearly 30 years of existing canon on Mandalore. I wish you the best of luck in straightening it out.

My involvement in the creation of the series does not go beyond that.

And comparing this to EU works, which have to go through several stages of testing as I recall, my impression then is that TCW simply goes over your head. Any TCW adherence to the EU or Holocron continuity is a blessing and a gift from its creators.

Learning this doesn't surprise me, but it does worry me. I had hoped you at least had the opportuity to lobby the creators, put some pressure on them, simply that GL had total veto. But as you make it sound, you are just the guy they call when they wonder about something, and otherwise they have completely free reins.

Again, not surprising given recent events, but worrysome...

Guys, I'm sure this will not be the last piece of EU continuity GL will trample with his far reaching and all-encompassing powers of veto. He's done it in the past, and he'll do it again.

It may not be what everyone wants to hear, but it's a cold fact.

Just sayin...

Has anyone read the introduction to Dark Empire by Kevin J. Anderson, in which he explicitly states that if George Lucas makes other films, they will likely have nothing to do with these published stories, but enjoy them in the meantime? The promise of continuity was continuity within the EU, not restrictions upon George Lucas or the team of writers fulfilling his vision.

Forgive the triplicate post, but it seems this topic has usurped several threads.

Mira, the promise of novels as canon was on the inside flap of the hardcover of Heir to the Empire, the very first SW novel in the 90s. Go back to http://forums.starwars.com/thread.jspa?threadID=270262&start=165 since I won't flood other threads with that. What you are quoting is one author's get out clause, not an official statement.

Let me make that post a little clearer. The book (trilogy) being canon was a selling point to the fans - it was official and approved. No mention at the time of EU (it didn't exist).

Back on to the thread as it is here for.

Sue, wanted to say I am enjoying the Fate of the Jedi series immensely atm. Love Luke and son's adventures, always loved learning about other Force traditions. Thanks for what looks to be a great series of novels.

And thank goodness for DHC - their current line is brilliant, love the new Invasion stuff, and just seen the November line-up. Looks great!

Nice! Glad you're enjoying it.

Just a head's up here: We're moving around some pub dates, so stay tuned. Next week I'll be posting a blog reflecting the revised calendar. The major change is that we've moved some of the Fate of the Jedi novels, beginning next year, to give the authors a bit more time to write .... longer novels. We conjured up a few beefy subplots to add to the mix that are really going to increase action, tension, and characters and wanted to be sure each author has enough time to really develop and write the stories without a lot of rush.

And Dark Horse -- I'm loving the new Invasion line as well as Dark Times and the others -- a really nice mix of quality stories. There are some awesome covers coming up too -- just wait until you see the cover for Knights of the Old Republic #46 (October). It's definitely one of my favorites.

Just checked the Dark Horse site, and the art is posted there...

That's great news, Sue. Thank you for telling us. While I was happy with the last FOTJ novel, I know a lot felt it was too short. It's genuinely moving to know that you guys listen and care.

That's the kind of respect and love fans wish they'd see from Mr. Lucas as well in regards to this recent controversy that's upsetting so many.
