# 3 is the most common one. It involves the three rings of defense described in I, Jedi and was developed as blasters became more and more common in the galaxy. The outer ring is the blade held diagoally at upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right. The middle ring is the blade held horizontally or vertically high, low, left, and right, and is used for picking off blaster bolts. You can see an example of the middle ring in ANH on the Falcon by Luke after he puts on the blast helmet and gets zapped. The inner ring is the blade held with the handle at navel level and and is used as a last resort when the enemy has gained the upper hand.

#2 is the form Dooku uses. It is very similar to fencing and is very graceful. The bent handle lends itself to this.

#4 is the form Anakin/Vader uses. It is similar to #3 only it uses wide, powerful, sweeping blows, very frequently.

That's all I know.

form 7 is especially dangerous b/c it is very close to the form sith knights use. that's why very few jedi can fight in form 7. (like me;))

Yoda probably combines multiple forms for a distinctive style. Many Jedi do that.

But I wonder what Forms 1, 5, and 6 are like? We don't know anything about them.

form I= basics of combat. includes parry and attack moves
form II= invented to combat the sith. focuses on lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat.
form III= focuses on defense. true for III masters are nearly invincible
form IV= an acrobatic form focusing on the three axis of rotation on a 3-d space.
form V= a form that was invented alonside form IV. can deflect blaster bolts back at attacker. also uses very powerful attacks.
form VI= a combo of 1,3,4, and 5. the diplomat's form. a peacekeeping style.
form VII= an advanced combo of form 4 and 5. cuts close to the darkside so hard to master.

hope this helps.

Here is my guess on who uses what based on the way they fight in ep II.
anakin= V
obi-wan= III
yoda= IV
dooku= II
mace= VII
maul= a corrupt version of VII
plo koon= V
kit fisto= III
saesee tiin= IV
eeth koth= VI
ki-adi-mundi= IV
luminara and bariss offee= IV (in tandem form)
adi gallia= IV
stass allie= III
shaak ti= III
coleman trebor= V
even peill= VI
Agen Kolar= V
Aayla secura= IV

NOTE: these are just guesses. some of them are for sure but others are just based on their actions.

Actually, this is the older thread, so I guess I'll lock the other one and link to here.
